Inspired by the moss-draped forests of Olympic National Park, this artwork brings a piece of the rainforest into the gallery.

Created with oil paint, textured materials, and real preserved moss, the surface celebrates the rich ecosystem found on the forest floor and along the branches of the Pacific Northwest's temperate rainforests. Layers of organic texture create depth that extends beyond the painted image, blurring the line between painting and sculpture.

Highlight: Moss is a challenging material to work with. To secure it effectively, it was saturated with linseed oil and carefully left to dry over time, allowing a strong bond to form with the canvas.
